Tips For Hosting A Special Event At A Mexican Restaurant

by Richard Schmidt

If you or someone that you're planning a party for loves Mexican cuisine, consider hosting the soiree at a Mexican restaurant rather than a general event venue. Not only will you be able to mark securing a celebration space off of your to-do list, but you also won't have to worry about finding a caterer.

An easy way to decide between two beloved Mexican restaurants is to find out which one offers a private event room. You can use this secluded space for opening presents, making speeches and toasts, or for playing games. If you have a large event, you may be able to reserve the entire eatery for the afternoon or night as well.

A Mexican restaurant makes a fun setting for a wide variety of events and special occasions, such as adults' and children's birthday parties, baby or bridal showers, anniversary or graduation celebrations, family or corporate holiday get-togethers, and even wedding receptions or luncheons. Restaurants are also ideal for hosting family and class reunions.

As an added bonus, some restaurants may offer event staff who can handle all of the details and arrangements for you. They may also be able to call in outside assistance such as decor or audio and visual rental companies for you.

Here are some additional tips for hosting a special event in a Mexican restaurant.

1. Choose Dinner or Lunch

If you're on a tight event-planning budget and can be flexible with times, hosting the celebration during lunch rather than dinner may save you money. Since lunch portions are typically smaller, you won't have to purchase as much food, and alcoholic beverages may not be expected, either. A mid-morning to early-lunchtime brunch event is another cost-saving option as well.

Whether your event takes place during lunch or dinner, serving the appetizers, main courses, and desserts buffet-style may be more cost-effective than individual plates. It will also allow guests to mix and mingle while they choose their favorite Mexican foods.

2. Pick the Menu

The hardest part about hosting a Mexican restaurant event may be narrowing down the menu when all options sound good. To please the most guests, stick to traditional favorites, such as tacos, burritos, and enchiladas, and don't forget to include a few meat-free choices for the vegans and vegetarians in the group.

When it comes to desserts, serve authentic Mexican treats, such as tres leches, sopapillas, flan, churros, and a selection of pastries along with cafe con leche.
